L'Asinara |
|
Inside the caves there are small
lakes and majestic stalactites and stalagmites. The rocky coast continues as far as Argentiera
and sailors leaving from Aghero to round Punta Falcone and enter the Gulf of Asinara, must
remember that there are many miles of open sea before reaching a harbour. Stintino, our next
destination, is across the straits between Isola Piana and Asinara. As Asinara is a prison,
mooring, swimming and visiting the island are forbidden.
|
Before reaching Stintino, people
who love to swim in transparent waters with sandy sea beds should stop at La Pelosa beach
which is a strip of fine white sand that competes with the sea for transparency. Stintino is one
of the most famous Sardinian tourist centres. It has modern accommodation, sport amenities,
night-clubs and characteristic restaurants.
